Analytik Jena Receives Good Response to its "Life Science Conference" this Year in Jena

Jena, May 7, 2012 – On May 3 and 4, 2012, Analytik Jena AG held its 2012 "Life Science Conference". For the second time, the Company sponsored this event for exchanging news and views, offering clients and scientists from the German-speaking region in particular the chance to learn about current scientific research topics and analytical trends from the world of biotechnology and molecular diagnostics. This year, the Company welcomed nearly 150 attendees to its group headquarters in Jena; demand for this relatively new event series has thus grown appreciably.

In his welcome speech to the attendees, Klaus Berka, CEO of Analytik Jena AG, noted: "It is true that we have just begun our ventures in life sciences, which is growing rapidly around the world. But we are making good progress as a renowned systems provider, and the incredible amount of interest in this event proves that we are on the right track."

Thanks to the success of the 2010 "Life Science Conference", this event quickly gained a reputation as a platform for discussions on life science topics and innovative research issues. The response after two conference days was also very positive.

Dr. Ulrich Busch from the Bavarian State Agency for Health and Food Safety (LGL), one of the conference speakers, explained: "This event was very successful and interesting. It included everything from practical research topics to the future of Analytik Jena."
As Angela Hilbert from the Friedrich Löffler Institute in Wusterhausen noted, "It was a positive event for me. The innovative and forward-looking technologies really impressed me, and will be of great interest to me in my further work."
Dr. Antje Labes, GEOMAR noted: "An all-around great event! The seminar was very in-depth and offered a mix of very interesting participants. I feel this is a unique conference for the German-speaking region. And since I am a user myself, I really enjoyed visiting Analytik Jena's headquarters."

Analytik Jena Opens Competence Center in Dubai

Jena/Dubai, May 3, 2012 — Analytik Jena AG has strengthened its sales and service presence in the Middle East region and opened an office in Dubai. From there, the Company will manage its entire sales activities in the Middle East region. The new facilities in the Silicon Oasis technology park also house a seminar and training room as well as an applications laboratory. The formal opening now took place with more than 50 guests from 25 countries and representatives of Analytik Jena on the occasion of the regional annual retailers’ meeting.

"We are doing all we can to expand our international network — which combines our expertise and services for our customers — on an ongoing basis. In opening the Dubai office, we want to expand our position in the markets in the Middle East further," says Klaus Berka, CEO of Analytik Jena AG. "At the Dubai site, from this point onwards the varied range of services of the Analytical Instrumentation and Life Science divisions are combined for the entire region."

With the new office, Analytik Jena is also reacting to the growing need for consultation, seminar and training opportunities in the region. From the Competence Center in Dubai, this need can now be covered with shorter reaction times. Product demonstrations and user training, supervised by experienced application specialists, can take place in the demonstration laboratory using the devices directly. Furthermore, Analytik Jena is cooperating closely with the partner company Gulf Analytical Instruments International to achieve comprehensive customer service in the United Arab Emirates.

analytica 2012: Analytik Jena to Showcase Future Trends in the Field of Analytical Instrumentation Technology and Biotechnology

Jena/Munich, April 16, 2012 — At this year’s analytica, which takes place from April 17 to 20, 2012 in Munich, Analytik Jena AG (Hall A1, Stand 211/310) is set to showcase technology trends of the future with its broad portfolio in the fields of analytical instrumentation technology, life science and LIMS.

One trade fair highlight in the field of traditional analytical instrumentation technology is the contrAA® series, a device family for high-resolution continuum source atomic absorption spectrometry (HR-CS AAS) that is unique on the market. The contrAA® devices allow for the first time ever simultaneous multi-line detection as well as the detection of non-metals such as halogens or sulfur. Alongside the compact contrAA® 700 combination device, the latest addition to the product family − the contrAA® 600 for graphite furnace, HydrEA and direct solids analysis − will also be on show. Potential customers can not only admire the new contrAA® 600 on the Analytik Jena stand, but also see it in action in the live laboratory for food and water analysis in Hall B2 − a brand-new highlight of the analytica 2012 trade fair.

The multi N/C® series also offers some new innovations: These TOC/TNb analyzers now feature innovative thermo-catalytic decomposition technology that allows for a much higher sample throughput, a much longer service life and drastically reduced operating costs in all applications, particularly for extreme matrices and samples with a high salt content. Analytik Jena will also be presenting the multi EA® 5000, a new generation of elemental analyzers for the single-and multi-element analysis of carbon, nitrogen, sulfur and chlorine from solid, pasty, liquid and gaseous samples. The process of detecting sulfur quickly and without interference has been further optimized thanks to the newly developed Micro Plasma Optimizer technology. The multi X® 2500 AOX analyzer and the latest UV/VIS spectrophotometers in the SPECORD® PLUS series round off the business unit’s product range at the trade fair.

In the Life Science area, Analytik Jena will showcase two new real-time PCR systems: the qTOWER for quantitative real-time rapidPCR and the TOptical for real-time PCR. The new CyBi®-FeliX, an extremely compact bench-top pipettor for use in proteomics and genetics developed by subsidiary CyBio AG, will also be showcased. Based on the patented CHOICE technology, this flexible pipetting platform allows for a volumetric area four times bigger than was previously possible. The wide range of pipetting formats allows flexible, single-channel, row-by-row, column-by-column and parallel 96/384 handling. In combination with 12 deck positions, CyBi®-FeliX is the perfect solution for a range of automated, routine liquid handling tasks.

AJ Blomesystem GmbH will be presenting the newly launched readyLIMS®, a high-performance, turnkey laboratory information management system designed for the complete range of laboratory-based tasks. This subsidiary of Analytik Jena will also be showcasing its tried-and-tested LIMS solutions LABbase® and ENMO® hydro.
