Highly complex and exacting demands on devices and instrumentation must be taken into account where medical laboratories are to be equipped. Centralized service providing operations by nature, they handle the entire range of diagnostic medical laboratory jobs in a single place. For integration of laboratories in hospitals, special knowledge about the relationships and interfacing points between the areas of medicine, research and learning are required as a compulsory requisite.
We own such knowledge, based on previous experience in the planning of complete hospitals and on continuously ongoing exchange of information with clinics and centres of research.
Under the New Building for "Klinikum 2000" Project of Jena University, a research block was erected — among other structural units — during construction stage 1. This laboratory compound is distributed onto four floor levels and includes laboratories and multi-functional sections for experimental research and training programs that are intended to serve a variety of clinics and institutes.
